Longtaitou Festival
The Longtaitou Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival held on the second day of the second month of the Chinese calendar, which refers to the start of spring and farming.
In the tradition of Chinese culture, the dragon is believed to be the king of all creatures and the ancestor for human being. It is also regarded as the deity in charge of rain, an important factor in ancient agriculture.
"Dragon" refers to the Oriental Canglong seven stars among the 28 nights. at the beginning of the mid-spring moon, thle "Dragon Horn Star" rises from the eastern horizon, so it is called the dragon raising its head.
People call this day the day of "raising the head of the dragon", because the second day of the second month of the lunar calendar falls between "Rain Water", "stinging" and "the Spring Equinox". Around the second day of February,when spring returns to the earth, people expect the dragon to stop all harmful poisons and loook forward to a bumper harvest.
